The Greenes have served with Engineering Ministries International (EMI) since 2009. EMI exists to transform lives by providing hope to the poorest of the poor. This ministry designs facilities that serve the poor in developing countries. These facilities (including hospitals, orphanages, schools, and clean water projects) directly impact communities by meeting physical needs and communicating God's love in a practical way. EMI combines engineering with evangelism by using the skills of design professionals while sharing the hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Since 1982 EMI has completed over 1,500 projects in more than 90 countries in the world. Philip is a structural engineer and the executive director for EMI's Uganda office. Philip and his wife, Emily, grew up in Africa as missionary kids and met at a boarding school in Kenya. After they got married, they lived in California for nine years so that Philip could get his education and some work experience. During that time they attended Trinity Presbyterian Church where they led a small group and the missions program. Philip and Emily have three children: Jonathan, Evelyn, and Luke.
