Local Outreach
We support missionaries who minister outside our country, but some of our missionaries work in the United States, and a few of them even serve right here in the Antelope Valley. In a sense everyone is either a missionary or a mission field, and therefore all believers should be looking to share the gospel with people around them where they live. They can certainly go on a short-term missions trip, but in reality they don’t even have to leave their area to function as a missionary!
Here at Faith we provide several ways to help our people reach out to the unsaved around us with the gospel. First, we participate in multiple community events each year, such as the Home Show, the Poppy Festival, and the Antelope Valley Fair. At each event we set up a table and pass out New Testaments, gospel tracts, and information about our church. We usually give away several thousand New Testaments during the course of a year. We also look for opportunities to have longer interactions with people and talk to them personally about Jesus. We invite anyone who attends Faith to participate in these local outreaches.
A second way that we reach out to our community with the gospel is through our Good News Clubs, which are a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship. During the school year we run several of these after-school clubs at local public elementary schools. Each week we teach the kids a Bible lesson that includes the gospel, tell them stories about famous missionaries, and sing songs with them about Jesus. People can serve at our Good News Clubs by teaching the Bible lesson, sharing the missionary story, leading the music, being a table leader, or just working behind the scenes as a helper. If you are interested in serving at one of our Good News Clubs or any of our outreach events, please contact Brad at the church office.
